Intentionality
The decision to welcome a birth photographer in the birthing space is an intentional choice to manifest a birth experience that empowers and reveres the birthing person and also celebrates the magic of the human body.
Being in a birthing space requires a presence that can support the experience, not detract from it. Even the most highly skilled technical photographer may not bring the mindfulness required for being in the birthing space. For me, it is an honor to hold space for - and to regard - your presence, trust, comfort, joy, pain, sadness, and beauty.
Values
Inclusivity - be a safe space and welcome every birthing person, as well as welcome every birth story: homebirths, birthing centers, hospital, cesareans, and loss/remembrance
Empowerment - capture and reflect back the embodiment, beauty, power, connection, tenderness, perseverance, courage, and love of the birthing experience
Authenticity - artistically document raw, real, and personal moments
Advocacy - images are powerful, impactful, life-changing; they empower what is possible and demand positive change. Birth representation matters, as does erasure
Intentionality- high quality birthing experiences, photos, edits, and artistry
